Welcome to the 2018 Legislative Session

Representative Onishi welcomes everyone to a new 2018 Session. We are looking forward to this 2nd biennial legislative year to pursue many of our goals to benefit the District 3 and State of Hawaii. The continued work of supporting the revitalization of the Banyan Drive area is a top priority, as well the procurement of funding to help facilitate better communications between the different enforcement and police agencies that help to combat crime. As the chair of the Tourism Committee there are many issues, including the continuing discussion on short term rentals.

The Representative welcomes all those who would like to voice the opinion to call, stop in, and be heard in this new legislative session.

Wanted to let all of you know that Public Access Room (PAR) staff will be on Hawai’i Island from September 11, 2017 to September 15, 2017 to conduct legislative workshops as part of our neighbor island outreach. I’m still working on securing venues and finalizing workshop dates but our tentative schedule is posted below. I’ll send a follow up email as soon as I finalize the schedule. In the meantime,  please let me know if you have any requests or recommendations for workshop locations.”

My family and I are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of Representative Cliff Tsuji and we offer our condolences to Ashley, Ryan and the rest of his Ohana. I had the privilege of serving as his Vice-chair of the Agriculture Committee, and saw first hand his dedication to serving the people of Hawaii. He will be greatly missed.
